Gossamer this morning
Wordless threads of spider silk
Connecting branch to branch
Measuring the space
Between the seasons.
The silvered trajectory
Aiming far beyond
Drifts onto outstretched cedar branch
A landing place made beautiful
By tiny artist spinning silk
Until its web is formed
Brief beauty in the patterned strands
Bedecked with gleaming beads of mist
Masterwork in miniature.
Behold, the beauty of a life spent
Reaching for beyond
Settling into place
Capturing the light.
