Happy Easter! Happy Springtime!
Delicate grasses and mid-summer wildflowers bloom in a Rocky Mountain meadow near where we camped years ago. At such high altitude, the growing season is short, but it’s all about new life, new growth, and the enduring cycles that ensure that it will happen again. Cherish the earth this Easter time as you celebrate Jesus the Christ, the One who walked this earth and brought new life to all.
Here’s an excerpt from my memoir, The Road to Beaver Park, Painting, Perception, and Pilgrimage that describes the day I walked this meadow:
“…The meadow is full of blooming grasses, black–eyed Susans, and an occasional scarlet Indian paintbrush. Blue–and–white columbine lurk under the aspen. I wander among the trees through thick grass and sidestep the nodding columbine. I say hello to old flower friends still growing here, still robust with life, part of the thriving community…The variety of greens tickles my inner painting palette–how can anyone possibly do justice to it?”
Put on your walking shoes this spring and look for a wildflower meadow. Revel in small miracles. Enjoy the blessing!
